Dharma's Guest Policy (from a dog's view)

We are a part of the family, and like to travel with our owners wherever they go. If we are able to come with them, we shouldn't be left in the cabin by ourselves, as we are in a new place and not quite comfortable at first. Unfortunately, we cannot hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, even on a leash, with our owners. Other areas, like the National Forests, we are welcomed but need to keep our owners on a leash.

We know that it costs more to clean a cottage after we have been staying there, so the $15/night charge per dog is really reasonable. Personally, I'd travel with one more dog, but no way would I travel with more than one!We want to earn the respect and welcome of John and Carolyn for all of us and our two legged companions, and we gladly abide by these rules:

1. Please keep your owner on a leash at ALL times.

2. Noisy owners are not appreciated and scare the wildlife. (Of course, we ourselves are always quiet and respectful.

3. No unpotty-trained owners allowed.

4. We like to do our duty in front of our own cottage, and have our owners pick up after us immediately.

5. Please don't ever leave us unattended or tied up inside or outside of our cottage - we may get lonely or get into mischief!

6. It's a small point, but we dogs like to eat out of our own bowls that our owners bring, instead of the cottage breakfast bowls. It's much more sanitary.

7. We understand that John and Carolyn do not want us to be on any of the furniture for any reason (after all, although we can't do anything about it, we do shed hair), so they will provide sheets upon request to put on furniture.

8. Please have your owners check out the Rocky Mountain National Park's Pet Policy. After all, if we're allowed to run loose, and want to run and play with the elk, we may get shot!

9. If your owners don't abide by these rules, we may all be asked to find different accommodations, and if there has been any damage, they will have to pay for it (after all, we dogs don't carry any cash).

10. Please respect our other guests and owners on the property.

At this time, we do not allow other four legged creatures, including but not limited to, Bears, Water Buffalo, Giraffes, Coyotes, Ferrets, Rabbits, Chimpanzees, Hippos, Pot Bellied Pigs, and especially those of the Feline family, including Bobcats, Tigers, Mountain Lions, Leopards, Persians, Siamese, or Calicos (to name a few :-). Exotic birds of tropical regions are also prohibited.

Evidence of these creatures in any of our cottages and suites will result in a $100 fine and immediate removal of the animal.

When bringing us to any new area, especially more open areas, such as that which is near Colorado Cottages, there are some hard facts our owners may want to consider:

There will be many new distractions, such as new and exciting scents, interesting sounds, and very wide open spaces that could cause us to behave differently, so we need to keep our owners on a leash at all times.

If we run loose, we may ignore our owners calls and their pleas for us to return. If we are caught chasing wildlife (all wildlife in the area is protected), we will probably be shot on sight (Yikes!), if we are caught by the wildlife officer! Plus, our owners will be subject to a $1,500 fine!

Again, if we are truly full-fledged members of our family, deserving of frequent flier miles, then our owners will have thought out these issues and concerns before hand. Then we can all have a wonderful vacation together, and can fully enjoy all that this wonderful corner of the Rockies has to offer.
